Dubai’s dining scene continues to evolve with innovative culinary concepts, and Akabeko, the city’s first table-top Yakiniku restaurant, is adding a unique Japanese-inspired afternoon tea to its offerings. From February 2 to March 31, guests can indulge in a matcha-infused experience featuring an array of sweet and savory delicacies inspired by traditional Japanese flavors.
The afternoon tea, available daily between 12 p.m. and 4 p.m., is designed to showcase the versatility of matcha while incorporating Akabeko’s signature Wagyu-focused approach. The menu features a combination of finely crafted matcha desserts and a selection of savory bites that emphasize the restaurant’s commitment to utilizing every cut of its high-quality Wagyu beef.
Among the highlights on the savory side are a Bao Bun with Japanese A5 Wagyu slices, a Mini Croissant with Wagyu and shiso leaf, a Wagyu cheese burger slider, and a grilled rice ball. Meanwhile, those with a sweet tooth can enjoy matcha-infused treats such as caramel matcha pudding, a light and airy matcha roll cake, matcha macarons, and matcha dorayaki—a classic Japanese confection given a contemporary twist.
To complement the culinary offerings, Akabeko has partnered with Mucharaka Tea, a Japanese tea brand known for sourcing high-quality teas directly from Japan. The menu includes a curated selection of hot and cold brews, ranging from traditional green tea and genmaicha to flavored options like peach and mango green tea. Sparkling cold brew tea is also available, offering a refreshing take on Japanese tea culture.
The experience extends beyond food and drink, with a carefully designed presentation that incorporates Zen garden-inspired décor, wooden trays, and traditional Japanese masu boxes, creating an ambiance that transports diners to Japan.
Priced at AED 185 per person, the afternoon tea includes one complimentary beverage and is available by reservation only. With Dubai’s growing appetite for immersive dining experiences, Akabeko’s matcha-inspired offering adds a new dimension to the city’s afternoon tea scene.
