BMW Unveils Next-Generation iX With Extended Range and Performance Upgrades

BMW has unveiled the latest edition of its all-electric Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV), the iX, which is set to arrive in the Middle East in the second quarter of 2025. The new model boasts significant improvements in driving performance, range, and design, reinforcing its position in the competitive electric luxury SUV market. With advancements in battery technology and power management, the new BMW iX now achieves a WLTP range of up to 700 kilometers, setting a new benchmark in its segment. The lineup includes three variants: the xDrive45, xDrive60, and the high-performance M70 xDrive, all of which will continue to be produced at BMW’s Dingolfing plant in Germany, the company’s center of excellence for electric drivetrains and premium-class vehicles.

One of the most notable upgrades in the new BMW iX is its extended range, which has been achieved through enhancements in battery cell technology and power efficiency. The xDrive60 now offers a driving range between 563 and 701 kilometers, the xDrive45 between 490 and 602 kilometers, and the high-performance M70 xDrive between 521 and 600 kilometers. Alongside these range improvements, the electric motors have been fine-tuned for greater power output. The xDrive45 now delivers 408 horsepower, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.1 seconds, while the xDrive60 produces 544 horsepower, reaching 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds. The top-tier M70 xDrive, designed for high-performance driving, delivers 659 horsepower in Sport Mode, achieving 0-100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds.

Charging capabilities have also been optimized, with the xDrive45 supporting DC fast charging at 175 kW, while the xDrive60 and M70 xDrive can charge at up to 195 kW. The newly introduced Combined Charging Unit enhances efficiency, while adaptive recuperation and the “MAX RANGE” function extend the remaining driving distance before the next charge by up to 25 percent.

Design updates further refine the BMW iX’s distinctive aesthetics while maintaining its bold SAV proportions. The redesigned BMW kidney grille now features an illuminated BMW Iconic Glow option, available as standard on the M70 xDrive. The vehicle’s striking front-end design is further enhanced by adaptive LED headlights with vertical daytime running lights. The updated exterior incorporates a greater use of body-colored surfaces, while the newly available M Sport package accentuates the vehicle’s dynamic presence with larger air intakes and vertical reflectors at the rear. For those seeking additional customization, BMW is introducing new metallic finishes such as Arctic Race Blue, Carbon Black, and Frozen Pure Grey, along with the BMW Individual Exterior Line Titanium Bronze.

Inside, the BMW iX continues to prioritize luxury and technology. The updated cabin features M multifunction seats, a leather-trimmed M steering wheel, and a two-tone instrument panel with an M logo in select trims. Standard features include a Harman Kardon surround sound system and the BMW Curved Display, which runs on the latest BMW Operating System 8.5 and supports digital services such as 5G connectivity and the BMW Digital Key. Enhancements to the vehicle’s automated driving and parking capabilities include the Driving Assistant Plus package, which offers Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go functionality. The Parking Assistant Professional option allows drivers to control parking maneuvers remotely via smartphone.

In terms of driving dynamics, the new BMW iX benefits from suspension refinements designed to improve both comfort and responsiveness. The M70 xDrive model comes equipped with adaptive two-axle air suspension and Integral Active Steering for enhanced handling. The availability of new 21- and 22-inch M light-alloy wheels, along with an optional 23-inch set, offers additional customization options for buyers.

With these latest updates, BMW aims to solidify the iX’s place in the luxury electric vehicle market, offering a combination of extended range, enhanced performance, and cutting-edge technology. The new BMW iX will be available for order in the Middle East starting in 2025.
