Menswear has rapidly changed over recent years, with the rise of streetwear in particular, classic men’s style has seemingly taken a backseat. However, we have taken a peek into Sanad Al Sayegh’s closet to see how he maintains his sophisticated style while adding a modern twist.
As a luxury menswear influencer who has a passion for travel, art and luxury experiences, Sanad’s attention to details makes him stand out from the rest and inspire so many with his outfit choices. When visiting his stylish downtown home, we found that his closet is full of outfits that would fit in perfectly on the front rows of Milan Fashion Week. Therefore, we were thrilled to have the opportunity to ask Sanad about the inspiration behind his style …
How would you describe your style?
I would describe my style to be modern/classic with a preppy twist to it throughout the work week. I appreciate tailored menswear, and a quality tailored suit/blazer is a staple piece in my closet. This look is often paired with a colourful pocket square and a crisp white shirt. I also enjoy wearing a printed shirt with a sophisticated pair of shoes, this gives me that ‘coastal Italian’ look which is my usual weekend outfit!
We’ve noticed you have a passion for art, how does this affect your fashion choices?
I have been drawing and painting since I was three years old. I appreciate art in all its forms, whether it’s a painting or a sculpture. Art is predominant in my home, and part of my unique sense of style. Although I have not been drawing for a while now; dressing up for me is a form of art and I enjoy expressing myself with colourful fashion! My closet is colourful, I promise you would rarely catch me in an all-black outfit, actually I only have one black shirt in my wardrobe.
Do you prefer to shop locally or with global brands?
I love supporting local brands and upcoming designers. Currently I am obsessed with @zaidfarouki’s creations and his exquisite tailoring. If you know me, you also would know that I have a passion for jewellery, and I never leave my house without my “Sanad” ring which I created in collaboration with my favourite local jewellery brand @the_goldencollection. I also think we all can’t live without global brands, and I look forward to each season to see what they would create.
Which Menswear trends are you loving at the moment?
I appreciate all the trends that are upcoming within the fashion industry; however, I do not tend to follow any trend deemed as popular.
What’s your go-to fragrance?
Currently, I have been infatuated with Dior Gris, and always get compliments whenever I am wearing it!
What do you look for when looking for new home interiors to fit with your lifestyle?
I do love all neutral shades with a touch of gold. I love art and fashion so I do tend to incorporate plenty of art and fashion pieces within my home interior. Also, I adore Versace Home, and it would unquestionably be my preferred brand when it comes to home furnishings.
What would you say is classic Dubai style?
Dubai is a very cosmopolitan and a multi-cultural city, I do not think you can label it in one style … but if I had to describe it, it would be glamourous.
Would you say COVID has affected your shopping habits? In what way?
Yes, it made me realise that all the items I have in my closet which I haven’t worn in ages need to be put to good use! It also has allowed me to create innovative outfits only from what is available to me in my closet; Actually, I also started shopping more online, dangerous habit!
Who would you love to swap a closet with and why?
I would love to swap closets with the late fashion legend Gianni Versace. I could happily live in printed loose Versace silk shirts for the rest of my life!
More pics of Sanad’s luxe style below…
Sanad’s always been class apart since our college days at Les Roches, Switzerland! I’m not at all surprised that he’s becoming one of the most magnifique style icon there ever could be. I have always believed in him and his sense of extraordinary dressing style. He would give complexity to Thomas Shelby, I bet on that.
