The comeback of iconic watch brand Parmigiani Fleurier’s Toric collection in 2024 is a matter of excitement for all high-end watch enthusiasts. A pillar in the realm of luxury watchmaking, Parmigiani Fleurier’s newest Toric collection is an invigorating and serene take on luxury, combining technical innovation with refined aesthetics. Infusing dance-like fluidity and removing all constraints, the Toric collection transcends established watchmaking norms and pushes boundaries.
Made with deep reverence for horological culture, the collection exclusively features manual winding, movements, dials, indexes, and hours and minutes hands all in gold, with cases and buckles made in gold or platinum. The collection draws inspiration from the hues of the Earth and nature, from the chromatic universe of Le Corbusier, master of purism – combining purity and elegance to craft a unique collection that exudes sophistication.
The collection was first introduced in 1996, deriving inspiration from Doric columns and the geometry of the torus. Its central element is the knurled bezel, staying constant across time. The gold dial in the collection was finished using graining, a finishing technique that gives the surface a matte texture with fineness, this technique was rediscovered by expert watchmakers like Michel Parmigiani. Keeping in a vintage aesthetic from the 60s close to the vision, the dials are made to beveled as opposed to uniformly flat. With a Nubuck-finished alligator strap, and a stitch known as “punto a mano,” the watch complements any suit its worn with.
The Toric Petite Seconde, features a modernist architectural take on watches, with 18-carat rose gold ‘bridges’, decorated with Côtes de Fleurier, interspersed with a sandblasted plate is a minimalist and contemporary take on traditional architecture. Additionally, Toric Chronograph Rattrapante’s captures magical movements in gold, with skeletonized structural elements, including a double-column wheel. This watch is a Haute Horlogerie iteration of a piece of world-class caliber, integrating 285 components, 35 jewels, and a 65-hour power reserve and a celebration of horological artistry.
