The Maldives Is Getting an Atlantis The Royal

Dubai’s most extravagant hotel is getting a tropical sibling. Kerzner International, the team behind Atlantis The Royal and the iconic Atlantis The Palm, has announced plans to open Atlantis The Royal, Maldives in 2029. Set across two islands in South Malé Atoll, the new resort promises to bring the drama, glamour, and scale that made its Dubai predecessor one of the most talked-about hotels in the world but this time, with a barefoot luxury twist.

Atlantis The Royal, Dubai, has become a global reference point for ultra-luxury travel since its opening. Known for its sky-high infinity pools, celebrity-chef restaurants, and its place as the go-to destination for everyone from Beyoncé to the region’s elite, it redefined what it means to experience hospitality in the city. Now, that same energy is heading to one of the world’s most serene destinations, and the result looks set to be extraordinary.

Located on Vaaredhdhoo Faru island, Atlantis The Royal, Maldives will be the first dual-island concept of its kind in the region, split between a Family Island and a Luxury Island. Together they will offer 493 rooms, villas, and mansions, 20 dining venues, two beach clubs, and a 70,000-square-metre Aquaventure waterpark. There will also be a wellness sanctuary complete with a spa, botanical alchemy zone, and an overwater yoga platform for sunrise sessions that feel more cinematic than spiritual retreat.

True to the brand’s DNA, the new resort will be grand yet grounded. Sustainability sits at the heart of its design, with coral regeneration, energy efficiency, and water conservation all key pillars of the project. Guests can also expect a curated lineup of dining experiences featuring Atlantis signatures like Ossiano and Gastronomy alongside new global names and regionally inspired concepts.

Speaking about the project, Kerzner CEO Philippe Zuber said the goal was to “reimagine the Atlantis experience through the lens of the Maldives.” Expect a blend of sensory escapism and architectural wonder that celebrates the natural rhythm of the islands while maintaining the spirit of the brand that started in Dubai.

With Atlantis The Royal, Maldives, the iconic brand expands beyond the city that made it famous, bringing its signature mix of spectacle, indulgence, and storytelling to a new kind of paradise. For those who’ve danced at Ling Ling Dubai, dined at Nobu, or floated in Cloud 22, consider this your next chapter.. same energy, different ocean.
