Chanel’s Newest Jewellery Collection is a Tribute to its Legacy

Chanel’s latest jewellery line taps into the house’s origins by taking inspiration from tweed and the house’s iconic motifs. Tweed has evolved into something that is synonymous with Chanel, right from its inception. The iconic Chanel tweed jacket has been a highly coveted item since its first design in 1925 and has since evolved into a central piece of fashion history. The new collection is a homage to founder Gabrielle ‘Coco’ Chanel and her love for tweed. The Tweed de Chanel jewellery collection features tweed-inspired pieces made from intricately woven gold and gemstones to mimic the texture of the beloved fabric.

The collection captures the texture and tactile essence of tweed as a fabric and reimagines the same in the form of jewellery. It also features five motifs that are central to the house – camellia flowers, the sun, ribbon, comets, and a lion, all divided into five chapters. One of the main pieces of the collection is the Tweed Royal Necklace which is studded with rubies and diamonds, amongst intricately woven gold with a lion in the centre. The detachable centrepiece can also be worn as a brooch or set into a ring. This necklace is a technical marvel and took 2,400 hours of work to create.

Yet another statement piece from the collection includes the Tweed Petale ring, which features the camellia in Pink Sapphire with white diamonds, in a Toi et Moi design. Another iconic part of this collection is the Tweed Mademoiselle Necklace, which honours the iconic Gabrielle Chanel herself. The necklace is a nod to the legend who was known to accessorize her outfits with pearls and features 5 rows of diamonds, reminiscent of pearls, complete with an iconic tweed ribbon motif on the side. The Tweed Byzance Brooch is reminiscent of the sun, with vibrant beryls set in 18k yellow gold, and is one of the many stunning pieces that make up this collection.

This new collection is a celebration of all things and its legacy. Drawing inspiration from important symbols of the brand, as well as the iconic Gabrielle Chanel and her love for tweed, it is a return to the roots and true essence of the house.
